National Solar Home Tour will have participating homes in Meridian Township on Saturday, October 5. For more than two decades, ASES (American Solar Energy Society) and Great Lakes Renewable Energy Assoc., the ASES state chapter, have organized and supported the Tour which is the largest grassroots solar event in the U.S. The Tour provides an opportunity for homeowners interested in solar energy to visit solar energy installations in their community and ask solar owners about their experiences in having a solar system installed on their roof or in their yard. This year four homes in Meridian Township including a condominium will be on the tour. Go to www.meridian.mi.us/energy for more specifics including home description, address, and times that the home will be open for a visit. Whether you’re just curious or in the market for a solar system, come chat with a solar homeowner. 2019 is a very good year to go solar because the full 30% federal tax credit and the Consumers Energy net metering program are still available to make your solar purchase an attractive investment.
