Jolly Road Resurfacing, Dobie to Meridian Roads Update:
Proposed Work includes Replacement and/or upgrading of aging culverts and storm drainage, addition of 6 foot wide shoulders with 4 foot of the shoulders paved throughout both sides, with related tree removal, embankment widening, and outward relocation of ditches or slopes, minor lowering of a hill near address 1364 plus other minor profile improvements to improve sight distance; in-place recycling of the existing pavement; asphalt resurfacing; restoration of all disturbed driveways and greenbelt.
Work has begun with tree removal. Drainage and road construction also expected to start in early April, 2018. Completion expected by Labor Day, 2018, dependent on weather and other factors.
Access to all destinations within the project will be maintained from one end of the project or the other with full closures occurring sequentially for several days, at various locations, for culvert, drainage, road profile improvement, and other work. Posted detour, for through traffic, will be Meridian Road, Grand River Avenue (M-43), and Dobie Road. An alternate detour will be posted via Okemos Road, Holt Road, and Meridian Road. Detours will be coordinated for both the Okemos-Jolly intersection and Jolly, Dobie to Meridian Roads, projects.

Jolly Road Project Road Closure Update:
Tuesday, March 20th: Jolly Road will be closed between Ambassador Drive and Ponderosa Drive through Wednesday morning (March 21st). Ember Oaks residents should access Ambassador Drive from the WEST, and Ponderosa residents will only have access from the EAST on Jolly Road.
Tree removal is expected to wrap up this week, followed by storm sewer & culvert replacements, which will also require sequential closure zones. The work zone will move back towards the east with traffic regulator control.
There is no work scheduled the remainder of this week or next week. Drainage work is expected to begin the first week of April. Thank you for your patience as we keep you informed of road closings and construction work updates.
The Ingham County Road Department (ICRD) is pleased to announce that construction work for the rehabilitation of Jolly Road between Dobie Road and Meridian Road is anticipated to start in early 2018.
The proposed project consists of grinding up the existing asphalt, constructing a wider road grade for paved shoulders and repaving with hot mix asphalt, culvert/storm sewer replacement and American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalk ramps and guardrail upgrades.
The proposed work includes removal of trees along the road frontage that are within construction grading limits and/or the safety “clear zone” prescribed by state and federal design guidelines.
The project will be funded by federal-aid transportation and ICRD matching funds. The project was bid in the December 2017 MDOT bid letting; Hoffman Bros Inc. of Battle Creek is the prime contractor.
