The Harris Nature Center urges youngsters to “Make a Nature Connection” this summer.
The nature center is offering a variety of camps for toddlers through 8th graders beginning June 19th and running through August 10th. This year there will be one-day camps, two-day camps and four-day camps. The fees vary, depending on the length of the camp, but all campers will receive a camp tee shirt. Participants can receive an “early bird” discount by registering before June 1.
“One of the best things about our nature camps is that they are outside,” said Nature Center Coordinator Kit Rich. “While this may seem like an obvious statement, studies show that children no longer spend much time outdoors and they are missing out on key development opportunities.”
During camp children will explore in nature, meet animals and experience a connection with nature that can only happen in the wild.
Families can choose between 1-day, 2-day or 4-day as fits into their personal schedule. Many camps include lunch with the counselors as well. Each week there are different camp topics available for preschool through 6th grade campers.
