On Friday, July 20th Township Manager, Frank Walsh announced selection of the new Meridian Township Police Chief, Ken Plaga. The media and public are invited to attend a Meet the New Police Chief Event and meet the new Chief.

“I am excited to continue to work for the community in my new capacity as Chief,” said Interim Police Chief Ken Plaga. “We have a department full of incredible men and women and I look forward to continuing to work with them and the community. Ken Plaga has a BA in Criminal Justice from MSU and a Master’s in Public Administration from WMU. He has served in the Meridian Township Police Department since September 1995:
“I am proud to recommend Ken Plaga as our next Police Chief. I trust Ken beyond words to lead our department going forward,” said Township Manager Frank Walsh. “We had three outstanding finalists and I want to thank them for their strong desire to serve Meridian Township.”
Recommendation of the new Police Chief will be before The Meridian Township Board for their consideration at the July 24th Meridian Township Board Meeting. If approved, the new Police Chief is anticipated to begin immediately. The application process for a new Township Police Chief began in mid-April 2018 upon Chief Dave Hall announcing his retirement. The Township received a total of 31 applications.
