Township to Welcome Trustee Phil Deschaine as New Treasurer

On Friday, December 7th Meridian Township will welcome Board Trustee Phil Deschaine as the newly appointed Township Treasurer.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm in the Meridian Township Town Hall Room, located at 5151 Marsh Rd., Okemos. Trustee Deschaine will be sworn in by Ingham County Circuit Judge, the Honorable Laura Baird.

The ceremony will include local guest speakers Ronald Styka, Meridian Township Supervisor, Andy Such, Former Township Trustee and Kellie Dean, President and CEO of Dean Transportation. The public and media are invited to attend.

“I have a passion for our community and after 30 years of private sector management experience, I am very happy to step up to this position as Treasurer of Meridian Township,” said Township Trustee Phil Deschaine.

Trustee Deschaine has already begun training with Treasurer Brixie and will take office as Township Treasurer on Monday, December 10, 2018. The selection committee chose Trustee Deschaine after voters elected Township Treasurer Julie Brixie to the 69th District State House of Representatives.

Township Manager Frank Walsh stated that the selection process to fill Trustee Deschaine’s seat will begin soon.
