Haslett – Okemos Kiwanis Club Donates $25,000 Towards the Marketplace on the Green Project

Post Date:01/16/2019

The Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department began a $50,000 Patronicity Crowdfunding Campaign in December 2018 for Marketplace on the Green Project.

The proposed new project will transform the Farmers’ Market into a social and economic centerpiece in Meridian Township, providing community space for the Farmers’ Market, craft fairs, Township-wide events, adult and youth sports, live music and more.

If funding for the Marketplace on the Green Project reaches the $50,000 goal by February 8th, a matching grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Public Spaces Community Places Program will be awarded to the Township. The $25,000 donation from the Haslett-Okemos Kiwanis brings the Parks and Recreation Department a giant step forward in reaching that goal.

“This $25,000 donation from the Haslett-Okemos Kiwanis Club is the first installment of a three year $75,000 commitment to this project,” said LuAnn Maisner, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We are excited about what is in store and look forward to even greater public involvement to help us reach the finish line.”

To date, $32,135 has been raised for the Patronicity Crowdfunding Campaign. 90 people have donated thus far with three donations above the $500 level:
$500 – DeAndra Beck
$1000 – Advanced Rheumatology, PC; Chris Buck and Martha Hentz
$2000 – Greater Lansing Association of Realtors

The additional list of donors who gave previously to the project that are not engaged in our Patronicity Crowdfunding Campaign include:
Meridian EDC – $50,000
