How to Register Your Fire Pit
Post Date:05/07/2019 4:43 PM
It is that time of year when residents are cleaning up their backyards, landscaping and wanting to use their fire pits. We are posting a friendly reminder to residents about the two types of burning allowed in Meridian Township; recreational fires and open burning.
Most properties are eligible only for a recreational fire permit due to the zoning and size of the parcel. Properties zoned rural residential (RR) AND over 1 acre in size are eligible for both permits.
The purpose of the recreational fire pit is to cook food or to gather around for ceremony or pleasure. A permit is valid through December 31st of the issue year. To receive a new recreational fire permit, you will need to register and acknowledge the conditions online. There will be no cost for this permit. Registration is online only through the Fire Department Website page.
Fire permits are only issued to property owners. Renters must contact their landlord to register their permit.A Rural Residential Burning Permit must be obtained by contacting Station 91 at 517.853.4791.
