Meridian Township Opens New Recreation Area for Small Dogs
Post Date:06/10/2019 4:00 PM
The Meridian Township Park Commission invites the public to Nancy Moore Park (1960 Gaylord C Smith Court) on Wednesday, June 19th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm to celebrate the grand opening of the new off-leash, Small Dog Park for dogs 30 pounds and under.
The park is located just east of the Nancy Moore Park parking lot and features a paved pathway for accessibility. The 1-acre space will include open areas and agility equipment.
Dog Park registration is required to access the off-leash area. This registration will ensure the Township’s ability to provide a safe environment for off-leash dog play areas for users. This process requires owners to provide proof that their dog is licensed with the county and has a current rabies
vaccination. Dog Park fees cover one year of registration.
The grand opening celebration will begin at 6:30 pm with the ribbon cutting ceremony. There will be human and canine snacks as well as free promotional giveaways while supplies last.
A large dog park will be open in 2019/2020. The Large Dog Park for dogs 30 pounds and over will be located in Central Park South. An accessible pathway will be constructed between the Town Hall and Central Park South providing the necessary access to the Large Dog Park. Fencing is being installed and a natural trail will be developed that will weave through the three-acre vegetated area.
