General Information:

Two dog parks are being constructed that will be open in 2019; an off-leash small dog (30 lbs. and under) play area in Nancy Moore Park and a large dog park (30 lbs. and over) in Central Park South.

An accessible pathway will be constructed between the Town Hall and Central Park South providing the necessary access to the large dog park. Fencing is being installed and a natural trail will be developed that will weave through the three-acre vegetated area.

Fees:

Dog Park fees cover one year of registration/use at the dog parks. The year starts from the day the registrant picks up the electronic key fob at the Parks and Recreation Department located at 2100 Gaylord C. Smith Court, Okemos.

Meridian Township Residents: $20 for first dog, additional $15 for second dog.

Non-residents: $35 for first dog, $20 for second dog.

Registration will soon be available.

Dog Park registration is required for access to the designated off-leash areas. The registration requirement enables the Township to provide safe environments in off-leash dog play areas for users and their pets. The fees will be used to maintain the high standards of Meridian Township’s two dog parks.

The registration process requires owners to provide health and safety documentation, specifically current rabies vaccination certificate and dog license, and a waiver and release form to comply with established rules for use of dog play areas. Dog owners must have their dog licensed with the city, county, or other municipal jurisdiction to apply for dog park registration.

If you would prefer a paper copy of the dog park registration form, please contact the main Parks and Recreation main phone number 517.853.4600, email Kelsey Dillon or visit the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation office at 2100 Gaylord C. Smith Court, Haslett, MI 48840.
