*Please note that we had a typo in The Playbook newsletter sent on Wednesday, November 5. We wrote the event date as November 11, but the correct date is Wednesday, November 12.
Join us at Lake Lansing North Preserve (please meet at the 1000 Wild Ginger Trail entrance) to transplant native species grown from our very own seeds collected by MCC volunteers and staff! We will also work to cut invasive shrubs moving into the planting sites. Unlike traditional gardening, native habitat restoration is a little more wild and takes place among downed logs and woody debris. Please be prepared to walk over uneven terrain and go off trail. We will provide all tools and will talk about why native plants are so important to our local natural areas. Join us in the forest to connect, learn, and conserve!
Weekday Warriors occur every other Thursday (holiday dependent) from 1 pm to 3 pm at different locations in the Township. This small, but mighty weekday group meets every other Thursday to work on small, but important stewardship projects in the Township. We do invasive species removal, litter cleanup, native seed collection and sowing, sometimes all at once!
Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register please send a note of your attendance (and others) to Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call/text at 517.897.3610. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
