Postponement of fireworks and Celebrate Meridian event were announced earlier this year as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic; however, now that July 4th is just around the corner, this communication is issued as a friendly reminder.

Meridian Township Fireworks show scheduled for Saturday, July 4th has been postponed until later this year. “Approximately 15,000 people gather for our fireworks display each summer,” stated LuAnn Maisner, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Based on CDC guidelines and Governor Gretchen Whitmer 's executive orders, we are unable and unwilling to host an event that encourages large public gatherings.

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, Township officials have announced the postponement of the annual Celebrate Meridian Festival and Food Truck Rally. The event was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 27th and will tentatively be moved to Fall 2020.

The new date, time and itinerary for the event will be announced at a later date.

“As much as we enjoy hosting this community celebration each year, postponing Celebrate Meridian is the right decision at this time,” said LuAnn Maisner, Meridian Township Parks & Recreation Director.

Each year, Meridian Township celebrates the community and the summer season with the Celebrate Meridian family friendly festival. The event features a food truck rally, car show cruise, kid’s activity area, live music, farmers’ market, arts & business expo, fireworks, beer & wine tent and more.
