Post Date:04/01/2019 4:54 PM
On Tuesday, May 7, voters in the Okemos School District will be asked to vote yes or no on the Okemos Bonding Proposal appearing on the ballot. This is the only item on the May 7 ballot in Meridian Township.
Absentee ballot applications have been mailed to registered voters who requested an absentee ballot or to those who are on Meridian Township’s permanent absentee ballot list. All eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absentee ballot without providing a reason. There are three ways Meridian Township residents can request an absentee ballot:
2. Request an application in person at the Ingham County Clerk’s office, any Secretary of State office or the Meridian Township Clerk’s office inside the Municipal Building at 5151 Marsh Road, Okemos. The application must be returned to the Township Clerk’s office either in person, by mail, email or fax to 517.853.4096.
3. Online through the State of Michigan website: https://www.michigan.gov/sos. Print out the application and either mail, email or fax the form to the Meridian Township Clerk’s office.
Absentee ballot applications are available in person at the Township Clerk’s office through 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 4. The Township Clerk’s office will be open on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm to register voters and issue absentee ballots; this is the last day absentee ballots can leave the building. Citizens can vote with their absentee ballot in the Municipal Building, or take the ballot with them.
On Monday, May 6, a citizen may vote via absentee ballot only at the Meridian Township Municipal Building, from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
All voters’ absentee ballots must be returned to the Township Clerk’s office by 8:00 pm on Election Day, May 7. Polls will be open on Election Day from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm.
All registered voters must be 18 years of age or older, a United States citizen and a resident of Meridian Township with valid picture identification presented. Residents can register to vote at the Ingham County Clerk’s office, any Secretary of State office or the Township Clerk’s office until April 22. Beginning April 23, residents can register to vote in person at the Township Clerk’s office until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7.
