2020 March Presidential Primary Election Draws Near
Post Date:02/10/2020 4:30 PM
Election Day for the 2020 Presidential Primary Election is Tuesday, March 10th. Polls will be open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Registered voters may view a sample ballot by entering their voter information online at www.michigan.gov/vote.
Absentee ballot applications have been mailed to registered voters who requested an absentee ballot or to those who are on Meridian Township’s permanent absentee ballot list. All eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absentee ballot without providing a reason. There are four ways Meridian Township residents can request an absentee ballot:
-Call the Township Clerk’s Office at 517.853.4300.
Applications can be returned to the Township Clerk’s Office either in person, by mail, email or fax to 517.853.4096.
Due to the passage of Proposal 3 in 2018, registered voters now have the right to Early Voting. This means voters can receive an Absentee Voter Ballot up to 40 days before an election, and not have to wait until Election Day to go to their precinct to cast their ballot. Any voter can come to the Township Municipal Building and request an Early Voting ballot any time the Clerk’s Office is open, which is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Meridian Township Clerk’s Office will also be open on Saturday, March 7th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for voter registration, issuing absentee ballots and early voting. All voted Absentee Voter ballots must be returned to the Clerk’s Office by 8:00 pm on Election Day.
This election is a Closed Primary Election. Voters have the opportunity to select a ballot with the candidates listed for President of the United States for either the Democratic Party, the Republican Party or a ballot that only lists local Ingham County Proposals.
