Township Businesses and Residents Provide Support

Meridian Township businesses and residents have been paying it forward and donating personal protective equipment, food and services to Meridian Police and Fire during COVID-19.

First responders are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic keeping everyone safe and healthy in the community. Many responders, including EMTs and paramedics, firefighters, police officers, public works employees and local government officials are working hard to serve the community, taking care of patients and responding to calls.

“It’s truly amazing during trying times how people come together to support all.  Thank you to all in the community who have taken time out of there busy days to support the First Responders of Meridian Township,” said Mike Hamel, Meridian Township Fire Chief.

Donations include:

  • Graff Chevrolet – Sanitizing of the police patrol cars.

  • Home Depot – Donated N100 filters, masks and P100 respirators.

  • Meijer – Donated bottles of hand sanitizer.

  • Target – Donated hand sanitizer and disinfecting cleaning supplies.

  • Food Donations include:  Chapelure Pastry & Coffee Shop, Chick-fil-A, Cracker Barrel, Dominos, FLAG (Front Line Appreciation Group), Great Harvest Bread, Groovy Donuts, Harkness Law Firm, Jersey Mike Subs, Little Caesars, McDonalds, Meiers Lombardini Lemanski Insurance, Olive Garden, Panera Bread, Qdoba

  • Masks, Tyvek suits, homemade face masks, food, filters and other PPE supplies from various Township residents.

“The Police Department is very thankful for the overwhelming support of the community during the pandemic. It is heartwarming to know we live and work in caring and supportive community,” said Ken Plaga, Meridian Township Police Chief.
