Please Note: Response to COVID-19 and recommended guidelines are frequently changing, please visit CADL's Reopening Information direct webpage for possible additions or changes to their reopening plan listed below.
The Okemos Library and Haslett Library located in Meridian Township are both branches of the Capital Area District Libraries (CADL). CADL recently announced their plan to reopen branches after being closed due to COVID-19 and Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Executive Orders.
Currently, library staff are not allowed in library buildings except for essential functions until the Governor's Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order is lifted which is currently, Friday, May 29th. Once staff are allowed in the building, CADL will reopen branches in three levels listed below. Patrons will not allowed in the library public spaces until at least Level 2.
Contactless curbside or door pickup of library materials. Residents will be able to go online or call and reserve materials to be picked up at the door of the library or placed in the trunk of their car. CADL hopes to have this service begin June 15th.
Next, as CADL moves beyond curbside or door pickup, they will have limited access to the libraries. There may be other services that are limited during this time like access to public computers, using the children’s areas and studying at the library. All library events will still be canceled.
Regular library services and hours will resume with any recommended social distancing guidelines still in place.
Additional updates: the due date for CADL materials has been extended to June 15th. Items on hold must be picked up by June 22nd.
