Road work updates from the Ingham County Road Department:

Beaumont Road and Forest Road Construction

  • UPDATE 6/30/20 - Forest Road from Beaumont Road to Farm Lane is closed for culvert and sewer work. This is a hard closure with no thru traffic. We anticipate reopening by the evening of 7/1/2020.

  • UPDATE 6/24/20 - The project on Beaumont Road and Forest Road is scheduled to start on June 29, 2020 (next week).  There will be some preliminary work late this week including utility verification and setting up traffic control signing. The project is Beaumont Road from Bennett Road to Mt. Hope Road and Forest Road from Farm Lane to Beaumont Road.  The project work includes 1.25 miles of HMA base crushing and shaping, culvert and storm sewer replacement, base stabilization, HMA paving, aggregate shoulders, pavement marking and slope restoration. The detour for the work from the north will be Mt Hope Road to Forest Road to College Road to Bennett Road.  Access for local traffic will be maintained.

Lake Lansing Road Construction

  • UPDATE  6/10/20 - The intersection of Lake Lansing Road and Park Lake Road will be closed all directions at approximately 11:30 am today (Wednesday, June 10th) for road construction.  This is a hard closure with no thru traffic allowed.  This closure will remain in place with posted detours for tentatively three weeks. The work is at the Lake Lansing and Park Lake intersection, and it includes replacement of the storm sewers and reconstructing the road grade for an improved pavement cross section.  The detour for Lake Lansing Road is Hagadorn Road to Saginaw Highway to Lake Lansing Road. The detour for Park Lake Road is Saginaw Highway to Newton Road to Coleman Road to Park Lake Road.

  • UPDATE 6/2/20 - The Ingham County Road Department's Prime Contractor, Michigan Paving and Materials Company, is putting in place a detour that will last for about three weeks.  The work is at the Lake Lansing and Park Lake intersection, and it includes replacement of the storm sewers and reconstructing the road grade for an improved pavement cross section.  The detour is scheduled to start on June 11th. The detour for Lake Lansing Road is Hagadorn Road to Saginaw Highway to Lake Lansing Road. The detour for Park Lake Road is Saginaw Highway to Newton Road to Coleman Road to Park Lake Road.

Central Park Drive Construction

  • UPDATE 6/16/20 -  Contractor, Rieth Riley, will only be able to maintain traffic in one direction during top course paving. Central Park Drive forms a loop with Grand River Avenue and Marsh Road – so it should be easy to navigate. They will be paving the 3 lane conversion on new lane lines (16 foot wide pass).  They will be staging adjacent leaving only space for one direction of traffic.

  • UPDATE 6/11/20:  Milling starting Monday on Central Park. The Ingham County Road Department (ICRD) recommends individuals use Marsh Road as much as possible to limit disruptions to the contractor and to make it easier for vehicular access, for the duration of the milling process. Additionally, ICRD anticipates milling the curb lanes first, then paving the base course on those same lanes. Then they will repeat the process on the inside lanes.

  • UPDATE 6/2/20 - The Contractor is scheduled to start work on Central Park Drive from Okemos Road to Grand River Avenue on June 15th.  There will be some preliminary work to set up signing a few days prior. The Ingham County Road Department is coordinating with MSU and EGLE as the project has a grant to use Polymer Coated Rubber (PCR) Modified HMA Mixtures. The project is cold milling the existing pavement 4 inches deep and resurfacing HMA in two lifts.
