Marihuana Licensing
At the November 21, 2023 meeting, the Meridian Township Board adopted review criteria and procedures for issuing recreational marihuana licenses.
At that same meeting, the Township Board decided to accept applications for both recreational and medical marihuana licensing. The period for application submissions was January 9, 2024 through January 26, 2024.
As of August 2024, the Township Board has authorized four conditional licenses. There will be one license in each of the zones (1, 3, 4, and 5). Zone 2 did not receive an application, so there is no conditional license in that district. View the Marihuana Overlay Map for zone locations.
The next step for each of the conditional licensees is review of their applications for a special use permit (SUP). All four licensees have submitted their applications for SUP review, and the Township Board approved the SUP request in Zone 5 at their August 8, 2024 regular meeting. Zones 1, 3, and 4 will be reviewed by the Planning Commission and Township Board over the next 2-3 months.
