Meridian Township is putting out for bid a contract to rehabilitate a portion of its sanitary sewer system. The work will consist of a variety of trenchless pipe and manhole restorations with the goal of reducing the amount of groundwater infiltrating the system as well as improving the stability and resiliency of the sewer network.
The bulk of the mainline rehabilitation will be Cured-in-Place-Pipe installations (full segment and sectional). Some mainline joint grouting will be included. The Manholes to be restored will either be lined with a Cementitious liner and/or be fully grouted. Some manholes will require grouted pipe connections or rebuilt chimneys.
Scope of work:
- Approximately 12,880 feet of 8-, 10-, 12- 18- and 36-inch Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) liner;
- Approximately 2,500 feet of 8-, 10-, 21- and 24-inch mainline joint grouting;
- Grouting approximately 150 lateral connections;
- Various Rehabilitation Techniques on 72 manholes; and
- Bypass Pumping
Proposals shall include the furnishing of all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the project as outlined in the contract book and plans.
Work on the project may commence at any time after the Notice to Proceed is issued and shall be completed by August 1, 2027. Sanitary Sewers crossing Railroads (Priority List 1) must be lined by November 1, 2026. No work will be permitted between November 1, 2026, and March 15, 2027.
Meridian Township will receive sealed bids for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 2026 project at the Charter Township of Meridian Municipal Building, 5151 Marsh Road, Okemos, Michigan 48864, until 11:00 a.m. local time, Friday, July 24th, 2026. At this time, the received proposals will be opened and read aloud.
The Township will evaluate proposals received based on professional qualifications and experience, the completeness of the proposal, the ability to meet the project work schedule, and the total bid cost. The Township reserves the right to reject all bids, waive informalities or irregularities, and accept the bid that it determines to be in the best interest of its residents.
