Air Quality Alert in Michigan for July 15-16

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has issued an Air Quality Alert for July 15-16 due to smoke from Canadian wildfires affecting air quality across the state.

Air quality conditions may range from Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups in southern Michigan to Unhealthy in northern Michigan, with some areas potentially reaching Very Unhealthy or Hazardous levels.
If possible:

  • Limit strenuous outdoor activities
  • Reduce time spent outdoors, especially if you have asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions
  • Watch for symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, dizziness, or irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat
