Christmas Tree Disposal Options in Meridian Township

With Christmas coming up, residents may be wondering what to do with their unwanted Christmas trees after the season has ended. In Meridian Township, there are three options for those looking to responsibility dispose of their trees.

Option 1: Drop-Off at Nancy Moore Park

The Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a free drop-off option for residents looking to recycle their Christmas trees.

From December 26, 2025, to January 15, 2026, Christmas trees may be dropped off from dawn to dusk at Nancy Moore Park (1960 Gaylord C. Smith Court, Haslett).

Trees should be free of wire, metal bracing, nails, plastic bags, rope, and garland.

*Wreaths will not be accepted as part of this program. Please note that this if for residents only and businesses are prohibited from dropping off trees.

Option 2: Drop-Off at the Meridian Recycling Center

The Meridian Township Recycling Center (5976 E. Lake Drive, Haslett), operated by Reclaimed By Design, will also be accepting Christmas trees for disposal and can be dropped off any time they're open.

All sized trees can be recycled for a $10 fee. Please note that trees will need to be free of all decor and debris. Wreath material can also be recycled if all wire, plastic, twine, and rope are removed.

Decorations, artificial trees, and wreaths with metal wiring will also be accepted for disposal in the compactor. That charge is $25 per cubic yard.

Winter Hours for the Meridian Township Recycling Center:

  • Monday and Friday – 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Saturday – 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

*The Recycling Center will be closed December 23, 25, 26, 31, and January 1.

Option 3: Scouts BSA Tree Pickup

Scouts BSA Troop 164G will be offering a Christmas tree pickup option on Saturday, December 27, 2025 and Saturday, January 3, 2026. Those participating in this option must place their trees on the curb by 10:00 am on both days. This service is free, but there is a $15 suggested donation for tree pickup.
