North Meridian Road Park Sledding Hill

Kids on Sledding Hill - News Item (329 × 260 px)

North Meridian Road Park (5191 Meridian Road, Williamston) is a 60-acre park that is popular all year round. In the winter, families love going down the sledding hill, hiking and cross-country skiing along the two miles of nature trails. North Meridian Road Park has been designated as Meridian Township's Night Sky Viewing Park and is open from dawn until 11:00 pm every day. The park also features year-round heated restrooms and a pavilion. 

A handmade sled library is also available for usage at North Meridian Road Park. Donated sleds are also welcome at the sled library.

Artificial Ice Rink Rules & Information

Family Skate Night (329x260)

The 40’x92’ outdoor artificial ice rink, located at the Marketplace on the Green Pavilion (1995 Central Park Drive, Okemos), is open and available for public use seven days a week from dawn until 9:00 pm. 

This rink is available for open public skating from December 1 - March 31 and is free to all users. Due to safety concerns, hockey is not permitted. Some skates are available on-site to borrow for free while enjoying the rink, thanks to generous donations from Delta Dental, Suburban Ice Arena and community members. 

Artificial Ice Rink Rules:

  • Only skates made for figure skating or hockey are allowed on the rink. 
  • Hockey pucks and sticks are not permitted in the skating area. 
  • Street shoes, food items, drinks or pets are not permitted in the skating area. 
  • Meridian Township is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
  • Skate at your own risk. 
  • Please be courteous and skate safely. 

Skate Usage Rules: 

  • Skates must be tied together and returned to the lending cabinet after use.
  • Do not walk on the concrete with skates on.

Snowshoe Rentals at Harris Nature Center

Explore the winter beauty of Meridian Riverfront Park by renting snowshoes at the Harris Nature Center. 

Snowshoe Rental: 

  • Tuesday – Saturday
  • 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • $10/hour/person
  • Dependent on snow cover
  • Call ahead to check conditions and reserve snowshoes at 517.349.3866.
Cross Country Ski Rentals

Meridian Township Parks do not offer ski rentals, but all trails are open to cross-country skiing in the winter. For a list of parks with trails, visit the Trails & Pathways page.

For ski rentals options in the area, please check the Ingham County Parks website or the Eaton County Parks website.
