However, such persons or organizations are required by the Township’s vendor ordinance to “make a license application for purposes of information only.” I will include on the list the names of persons or organizations that do not have to obtain a vendor’s license but have made the required application.

The Meridian Township Police Department is hereby giving notice that forfeited and unclaimed property will be disposed of via auction through Propertyroom.com and Bidcorp.com.

Items include, but are not limited to, bicycles, jewelry, electronics, tools, sporting goods, clothing, and electronics. Individuals interested in viewing a manifest of the property being offered for auction can do so by contacting the Quartermaster at 517.853.4800. On occasion, citizens call the Police Department to report an individual selling merchandise door to door in their neighborhood. A police officer responds to each call to investigate and determine if the person alleged to be selling is lawful and, if so, has acquired a vendor’s license. If the vendor is not licensed through the Meridian Township Police Department, a citation may be issued. At a minimum, the vendor is requested to stop selling and to apply for a license at the Police Department.

A license to sell door to door is issued by the Meridian Township Police Records Unit. A licensing fee and a performance bond are required.

Obtaining a license is not required for those vending for a religious, charitable, educational, fraternal, or political group. However, the completion of a license application is required for informational purposes only. Please contact Records Supervisor Heidi LaFargue at 517.853.4816 or lafargue@merdian.mi.us.

Vendors are required to be licensed. In most cases, there is a $500 cash bond required along with a license fee.
