Board of Review

The Board of Review convenes in March to consider appeals concerning property tax assessments. After reviewing each case, the Board issues determinations and outlines the next steps in the appeals process.

Additionally, the Board meets in July and December to correct clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact, or other specific errors related to property assessments. During these meetings, the Board also considers requests for poverty exemptions, denials of certain personal property exemptions, veteran's exemptions, principal residence exemptions, qualified agricultural property exemptions, and qualified forest property exemptions. The Board’s authority during the July and December meetings does not include standard valuation appeals.

The Board of Review consists of six appointed members and two alternates, each serving two-year terms. All members are Meridian Township residents, registered voters, and either knowledgeable about the local real estate market or willing to learn.
