Lac Du Mont Drive Update (8/11/25)

8/12: Weather permitting, the Township’s contractor will pave the first layer of asphalt on Phase II. If time and weather allow, the contractor will also start paving the second and final layer on one half of Lac Du Mont Drive.

On days when the contractor is paving, access to your normal parking lot may be impacted for 30-90 minutes. You will be able to drive north and south down Lac Du Mont on the side that is not currently being paved. However, if the contractor has just paved in front of your parking lot entrances, the asphalt will need 30-90 minutes to cool and compact before traffic can enter. Please park in the nearest open parking lot during these times. Expect delays when traveling on Lac Du Mont Drive during paving days. The half of the road that is not paved will also be used to transport asphalt to the site. You may have to wait behind semis for short periods.

8/13: Weather permitting, the Township’s contractor will finishing paving the second and final layer of asphalt on Lac Du Mont Drive.

8/14: If paving cannot be completed on 8/12 and 8/13, this is a contingency paving date to finish paving.

Manholes will likely be raised in September as the subcontractor has other projects that need to be completed prior to bus routes resuming at the start of the K-12 school year.

Lac Du Mont Drive Update (7/24/25)

The cement stabilization treatment has been completed on Phase I of Lac Du Mont Drive.

7/25: Phase I will be reopened between 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Please DO NOT drive on Phase I until it is reopened. This ensures that the cement stabilization treatment is not compromised while it cures.

7/28: Weather permitting, the Township’s paving contractor will pave the first layer of asphalt on Phase I.

The following is the current weather-dependent schedule for Phase II:

  • 8/4: Manholes will be lowered with Lac Du Mont Drive open to local traffic.
  • 8/5: Mill off the top 4.5 inches of existing asphalt with Lac Du Mont Drive open to local traffic.
  • 8/6: Crush the remaining existing asphalt in place with Lac Du Mont Drive open to local traffic.
  • 8/7-8/9: Phase II of Lac Du Mont Drive closed to ALL traffic except for emergency first responders. To assist residents during the closure period, golf carts will be available for shuttle services from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. These golf carts will transport you to and from your home, vehicle, or the nearest CATA stop on Bois Isle Drive as needed. Typically, the golf carts will be stationed at the intersection where Phase I and Phase II meet, near 2047 Lac Du Mont Drive. You can request a ride by calling the golf cart operators at 773.720.2715.
  •  8/7-8/8: Cement stabilization treatment is performed.
  • 8/9: No construction activities will occur on this date. This date is to allow for one full day of cure time before reopening the Phase II portion of Lac Du Mont Drive to local traffic only. Phase II of Lac Du Mont Drive will be reopened to local traffic late in the day on Saturday, August 9.
  • 8/12: The Township’s paving contractor will pave the first layer of asphalt on Phase II.
  • 8/13 and/or 8/14: The Township’s paving contractor will pave the second and final layer on all of Lac Du Mont Drive. Paving will occur a half width of the roadway so the other half of the road can be used to maintain traffic.

Tacoma Hills Update (5/30/25)
  • For roads that do NOT have curb and gutter, the Township’s contractor continues to work on any necessary ditch clean out and culvert replacement work.
  • All ditch roads have had the existing asphalt crushed with the exception of Tacoma Blvd. Tacoma Blvd will likely be crushed the week of June 9 once the other roads have been paved.
  • The Township’s contractor will completing the final milling (i.e. removing existing asphalt) from roads that have curb and gutter on May 30.
  • The milling and crushing work typically moves past a given driveway in approximately 10 minutes, after which there is a rough gravel surface that you can drive on. The milling, crushing and paving work will be completed one lane at a time, thus the streets will be usable on at least one side at almost all times. An entire street is normally milled in one (1) day. Once the milling is finished, the first layer of new asphalt will be placed within 10 days.
  • Weather dependent, the Township’s contractor will be paving roads on May 31 and June 2-6. The roads with curb and gutter are likely to be paved first.
  • Additional paving dates will be announced when they are scheduled.

Tacoma Hills Update (4/8/25)

Consumers Energy is currently finishing up their replacement of natural gas mains and service lines in Tacoma Hills prior to road work beginning. We currently estimate that Consumers Energy will complete their work by Friday, April 25.

The Township hopes to confirm a weather-dependent schedule for completing spot repairs to storm drains by Monday, April 14. This weather-dependent schedule will be published once it has been confirmed. The Township currently anticipates the storm drain repairs occurring between mid-April and mid-May.

Damaged or settled sections of curb and gutter that are preventing proper road drainage will be replaced prior to the beginning of paving work. The Township does not replace curb and gutter for aesthetic purposes. The Township currently anticipates that curb and gutter spot repairs will occur between April 21 and May 16.

If the curb and gutter across your driveway is removed, there will be a period when you have to drive over your driveway without the curb and gutter. Once the concrete is scheduled to be poured, Lopez Concrete Construction, LLC will communicate with property owners to ensure their vehicles are moved prior to pouring.

The concrete will then take five to seven days to cure. If concrete is poured across your driveway frontage, you will need to park in the street during this time.

The Township’s paving contractor will begin work once the storm drain spot repair and curb and gutter spot repair work has been completed, which will likely be in mid-to-late May.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused during construction, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to improve your neighborhood and our community.

Everett Farms Update (4/3/25)

Lopez Concrete Construction, LLC is currently finishing up the curb and gutter spot repairs and ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades in Everett Farms prior to paving work beginning.

Timeline for milling and paving of Everett Farms:

  • Week of April 14 | Weather dependent, manholes will be lowered to prepare resurfacing of the roads.
  • Monday, April 21 | Weather dependent, milling (i.e. removal of existing asphalt) will begin.
  • Thursday, April 24 | Weather dependent, the Township’s paving contractor will begin paving the first of two layers of asphalt.

Additional paving dates will be announced once they are confirmed.

UPDATE (3/24/25)

As part of the 2025 Local Roads Program, the Township's concrete contractor (Lopez Concrete Construction, LLC), will begin removing curb and gutter and sidewalk ramps on Tuesday, March 25.

We anticipate being able to start pouring concrete late this week or the week of March 31. However, when we can begin pouring concrete is dependent upon temperatures.

Before paving work begins, damaged or settled sections of the curb and cutter (that are preventing proper road drainage) will be replaced. The Township will not add additional curb and gutter for replacement, and the Township does not replace curb and gutter for aesthetic purposes.

Additionally, any sidewalks crossing the listed streets on that map below will be upgraded according to the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, as necessary. This generally includes lowering existing sidewalk ramps to reduce the ramp slopes, realigning existing ramps for better directional guidance at the crossing, or adding new ramps to provide an accessible crossing.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused during construction, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to improve your neighborhood and our community.

UPDATE (2/13/25)

Consumers Energy will begin natural gas utility work in mid-to-late February. This work is estimated to be completed between late March and mid-April.

Consumers Energy will replace a natural gas main and gas service lines that serve homes in the Tacoma Hills neighborhood. If the service line to your house needs to be replaced, Consumers Energy will contact you directly to schedule this work. Gas service to your home will need to be shut off for a brief period to complete the replacement. Scheduling with Consumers Energy in a timely manner will help keep the Local Roads Program on track.

Any questions regarding the gas upgrades should be directed to Adam Bertram with Consumers Energy at Adam.Bertram@cmsenergy.com or 517.374.2375.

This work is being performed in coordination with Meridian Township’s Local Roads Program to reduce the need to cut the newly paved roads in the future. The roads that will be resurfaced in 2025 are shown in blue on the map at the bottom of this update, and Consumers Energy will be working in the project limits shown in blue on the map.

Spot repairs to storm drains will also be performed in coordination with the 2025 road resurfacing in Tacoma Hills.
