Communications Commission

The Communications Commission advises the Township Board on issues related to video service franchise compliance with PA 480, Metro Act permitting, telecommunications rights-of-way, and DAS communications. The Commission also supports the Communications Department in managing HOMTV and CAMTV programming, as well as Township communications involving print, digital media, branding, and marketing.

The Commission is responsible for managing an annual budget funded by franchise and PEG fees paid to the Township for use of public rights-of-way. These funds support the HOMTV Government Access Channel and CAMTV Regional Public Access Channel. Additionally, the Commission may hear informal complaints from residents about local video service providers and make recommendations to the Meridian Township Board regarding broadband, WiFi, internet, and related services within the Township.
